darling dear, you're welcome here.

what have i been doing!?
- CHINA: Read my CHINA BLOG. It turns out that BLOGSPOT is a shit and is blocked in China, and so I just made another LJ for that. But basically, it was stupendous like always, I love my family through all the drama, I bought a ton of shit, and my aunt and other uncle are fucking rich.- HANGIN': Just chilln' with my homies and my family. It's hard for us to get our schedules all to align because my friends all worked this summer at DIFFERENT TIMES, so we'd have really weird hang-out times. It's pretty much nearing the end of summer, and I hate this time of year when the vacation is wrapping up and people are leaving and I have to say bye to my friends all over again. :'( Alex and Claire already left. I miss them already. I'm also leaving for Taiwan in a grand total of 8 days, and can I just say my initial excitement ahs just been completely overshadowed by FEAR!?!?!?! I'm so scared of being in another continent by myself, of exercising my Mandarin (even though that's my first language, what?), of making friends, of EVERYTHING DX. - BIG BANG: I GOT SO MUCH OF THEIR MERCHANDISE both in China and in America XDD. I love them. GD's solo album comes out basically tomorrow, WAHHHHHH. I fucking love his blond hair. - CAMP XROADS: Every year is awesome, that goes without saying. I do however feel significantly old now; I barely knew 1/4 of the kids who went this year, mostly because of our age difference. After being a counselor for one year before this, I feel like it's another routine I can easily fall into and sometimes I get so caught up in the technicalities and everything, but I did get my own time for God, which was great. I was also put in charge of the counselor skit AGAIN this year, but unlike last year, had no awesome template so I had to WRITE IT. With a huge amount of Teddy's help actually (which one point being which we almost killed each other over an argument about a character choice), and I don't know if it was that good... but it was so long, we spent like 14 hours writing it (not straight @_@) and a lot of people said they liked it. So. ![]() Counselors! Minus... Andrew. We have like 304958039586 of this picture, but each one gets progressively more ridiculous because we all have the attention span of a fly and started joking around. Makes for a lot of blurry mess. - WRITING/SHOPPING/EATING/SPENDING TOO MUCH. That's it in a nutshell. IDK. I don't want to go into too much detail, lol. On Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 11:26:00 PM total eff my life morning. [ may 28 2009 ]
![]() I look so fobby it's ridiculous. Also, my friends say I definitely do not look 20. Bitches plz. This is @ Pajama Baking Co. earlier today! Cherry granola ice cream<3. So I woke up this morning with my grandma screaming at me from my doorway. It's not as serious as it sounds; she can be really chill and she can also get really worked up, especially if it concerns my sister. My parents, sister, and I don't let it bother us anymore. Anyway, I was still half-asleep and disoriented so I'm not exactly sure what she was yelling at me (she is a 5-foot-tall scrawny old Chinese lady with a typical old lady voice) except something about me spending too much time on the phone and on the computer, and "you do noshing, noshing all day! And you go out too mach!" (thanks angrylittleasiangirl.com) and something about being sick. Wtf. So I slurred, "what time is it?" and she yells "ALMOST ELEVEN" which means I went to bed almost five hours ago. I sleep really late and sleep in during the summers so I had no idea why the heck she was yelling at me, or if she wanted me to wake up earlier, why she chose today of all days to start, so I just rolled over and fell back asleep. Proceed her stomping down the stairs, ranting all the way, and I hear her on the phone, still shouting (at one point my mom calls and she picks up and when my mom says hi, she shrieks, "WHO IS THIS!!!!!" XD). So I gauge that something's wrong by now and stumble over to the phone to call my dad four times, who doesn't pick up, then my sister because I hear her name come up a few times in the conversation. QQ: Hello? Me: WTF IS GOING ON QQ: ? I'm sick and I've been waiting in the office for 20 minutes and you're supposed to come get me. Didn't grandma tell you? Me: Ohhhhh. ... Not really, -___-; So I drive the five minutes looking like utter shit to pick the sister up from school, and when I tell her what happened she, the security guard at the front desk, and I all start to laugh hysterically. I swear tears were coming out of my eyes I was laughing so hard, the situation was just that ridiculous. I mean, what did being on the phone and going out too much have to do with anything that was going on? I don't understand why she couldn't have shaken me awake (I'm a heavy sleeper), told me QQ was sick and needed picking up from school, and gone about her day without causing herself unnecessary stress. Anyways, I brought her home, gave her medicine, ate lunch, tried to stay awake, and then ended up sleeping on the couch till four. I told my parents later and my mom laughed her ass off for like, 10 minutes and my dad was like "omglol". I feel bad because I don't want to laugh at grandma, but, it was just too funny not to repeat. My grandma needless to say was pissed off at us all the rest of the day and yelled at everybody at random times about random things. Oh wai po. Going with the FML thing, this is small but should be mentioned. Somebody called, I picked up, and: Me: Hello? Other end: *silence* Me: Helloooo? Other end: Let me put you on hold. Me: o_O *stares at receiver* what? I don't even know who you are! You called ME! Later on I was supposed to go with my sister to her winner's recital (she won 1st in a statewide piano competition two weeks ago, oh I do not miss those days of piano competitions) but she really didn't want me to hear her play since she was afraid she'd sound like crap (she hasn't practiced in a few days because of her sickness) so I went over to Claire's house instead with Alex and Daren, and after I spammed them all with more Big Bangness, who Claire by the way didn't think were attractive at all until I showed her a live-in-concert vid (that's what I THOUGHT), we walked down to Pajama Baking CO. for gelato and talked until it was dark. I wanted to get food but nobody wanted to spend money so I just got Jambalaya Rice at the cafe, and we continued talking. Daren forgot her keys there so we drove back to get it in Alex's shiny new Honda but none of us minded cuz the boy behind the counter was so adorable. ![]() Cherry Granola ice cream. Sounds gross but I liked it. Nobody else did though, LOL. ![]() Claire & Alex. ![]() Me & Daren. I went home and camerawhored because for once, I remembered to wear my straw hat with an outfit. ![]() I wear my zebraprint leggings too much. There's a big hole in the seam as a result. I'll stitch it up tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, what the heck is normal about this conversation I ask you: Claire: Summer do you have a pleated skirt? Like, Catholic-schoolgirl style? Me: ....no, because I didn't go to Catholic School? Why do you need it? Alex: Please don't make me listen to this again. Claire: Erin (her boyfriend who btw looks like her FATHER) wants me to be in it. Me: Oh. ....Awesomeeeee.... Alex: You can probably find it at Fascinations if you really want one. Claire: Isn't that too sexy? Me: And what exactly are you trying to achieve with this whole my boyfriend wants me in a schoolgirl skirt to fulfill his fantasy thingie? Claire: Oh also we bought handcuffs, did I tell you guys? Me & Alex: O____O NO. Claire: See, I still have chafe marks on my wrists. Fantasies and kink are perfectly fine if you're into those things, but please do not share every intimate detail of your sex life with your friends. Especially if they have told you thousands of times that they do not want to hear it, and especially not if your boyfriend looks like your dad. This is just the tip of the iceberg by the way; I can tell you many, many NC-17 rated things about Claire's sexcapades but I don't think you want to know. Big Bang's Until Whenever is LOVE. GD is an amazing composer. I'm sad it was never released :(. China countdown: 4 days!!!! x summer mood ; drugged & disoriented music ; until whenever - big bang obsession ; still big bang, light textures crave ; korean food :B location ; denver -> my bed as always Labels: camwhoring, life, pix On Monday, June 01, 2009 at 2:02:00 AM kou ke de wang zi. [ memorial day wknd ]
I'm tempted to start out the post with something about Big Bang because I am living, breathing, and rolling in everything Big Bang these days... but I will restrain myself for once and talk about Memorial Day weekend. First though! ![]() Baby! She's really cute most of the time but whenever she sees me on the computer she always wants to sit on the chair with me so she can mess with my keyboard and steal my food. And I like my Macbook to myself, esp. free of baby-grease hands. :/ Anyway, Memorial weekend. Saturday I just chilled at home with waipo, but on Sunday I hung out with Lei, finally, who I haven't seen since like... last summer. Us and her boyfriend Tsai were all craving DOMO but for some reason they're closed on Sundays so we ended up going to Lao Wang's Noodle House (Lao Wang Niurou Mien) instead. I wasn't that excited at first because I get most of it at home, but it was soo good. It's run by an old couple and that's it, they have no more employees. The restaurant is about as big as our living room, and the menu is printed old-style Chinese on little wooden boards tacked up on the walls. I had to have Lei translate XD ![]() The outside of the restaurant. ![]() Guotie (kind of like fried dumplings) in the front, and mala dusi (spicy cow... tendon?) in the back. The guo tie were soo good :d. ![]() My dandan mien (egg noodles). The flash washed out most of the color; it had a little peanuty flavor and I added a bunch of la you (hot oil) and it was really good. Soo much food. Lei got za jiang mien (sort of like Chinese bbq style noodles) and Tsai got wonton noodles because I guess Sunday is the day before they stock up again for the week and they were all out of niurou (beef) everything, which is their specialty. So that was kind of sad, but we can always go back. On the left is a guotie in brown rice vinegar and hot oil. Oh my gosh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it xD. ![]() Hongyou chaosou (red-oil cooked with a sort of wonton, except more wrapping than meat). & Bok choy lol. Ahh so good. ![]() Tsai finishing my dandan mien cuz I was so full and couldn't xD. He ate all of his, plus Lei's leftovers, plus my leftovers. What a guy. ![]() Tsai and Lei. I feel so ultra white compared to them lol. ![]() Lei and me. I'm already in food coma state, can you tell? Afterwards we went to visit one of their friends, Long, at his work which was right across the street. I definitely displayed Asian woman driving skillz and drove up onto the curb ><. And this hispanic guy who was chillin on the sidewalk laughed at me, LOL. At the store Long let us have free candy and drinks and Lei bought like $15 worth of Lotto and scratch tickets, but every single time was epic fail. She won a total of $3. LOL. ![]() ![]() ![]() After that we drove up to Boulder to Lei and Tsai's house and then picked up a case of beer for pong later, then went to see Wolverine at 10:35 with Long. SUCH A GOOD MOVIE OMG *_*. I wouldn't mind seeing it again because I'm sure I missed half the action cuz I was drooling the whole time over the fight scenes and there was so much to see. It was a really satisfying revenge movie. And Cyclops wasn't a tool in this one. And Gambit was soo attractive and awesome. He's up there with my favorite Xmen along with Mystique. Then we went back to Lei & Tsai's to play some pong despite the fact that I suck bad. ![]() ![]() Lei's doggie, Snowball, in his raincoat Lei got for him at the dollar store LOL. The whole time he had it on he was so incredibly glum and pouty. We were like "Snowball, pose for the picture!" and he just sat there looking sad. Tsai was like "it's cuz he looks stupid and he knows it". The minute we took it off him he started bouncing around again. He's a Pomeranian & Maltese mix O_O. I thought he was a Bishone or however you spell it. ![]() Lei and me camwhoring. We started out on a team vs. Tsai and Long (guys vs girls) but we lost like 3 consecutive times (and I'm not even gonna lie, I take full responsibility for that because I made a total of like 3 cups LOL) so then we switched. ![]() Long & Lei. Awkwarddd. ![]() Tsai and me fobbing it. Awkwarddd. We didn't win any with this team either :( that's how bad I suck. But by now I was heating up; in one game I made more cups than Tsai did! So this time it wasn't wholly my fault XD. Long sucks too, btw. (My body looks so fat in this picture O_O Actually the shirt I was wearing is really loose on me and in all the pictures ended up making me look 3 sizes bigger than I actually am. Not picture-flattering). ![]() The pong table. It got sooo dirty and reeked of beer by the end of the night. Lei called two of her other friends, Charlotte and her korean bf that I never learned the name of, to come over to and while waiting for them Long and I discovered we have the exact same taste in music o_o. He likes Big Bang and knows like, all their lyrics. Plus, he is the first male Fahrenheit fan I have ever met in my life. He knows all of Jiro's poses and the rest of FLH's poses for that matter, and he used to have Aaron's old haircut O_O, and he knows all their lyrics and his ringtone is Dong Mai XD (mine is YueLaiYueAi, so when I heard his I was like OMFG). We were quizzing each other on music for a while and both of us knew the answers to the other's questions of course. Too bad I'm not attracted to him. Ha. Although, when he laughs he has Jiro's face which is, odd. While waiting for Charlotte and Korean Boyf to get here, we made a McDonald's run cuz all of us had the munchies. ![]() ![]() More camwhoring in the car. ![]() Result: 5 cheeseburgers, 5 hot&spicy chicken sandwiches, 10 5-piece nuggets, & 10 small fries. HOLY SHIT. I ate a hot&spicy and a nugget set, and then half a cheeseburger in the morning ><. And Charlotte and Korean Boyf weren't here yet, so I made Long do Jiro's poses and HE WAS SO GOOD. At first he was like no, I have to be drunk to do it but I am queen of nagging (and Lei isn't bad either) so he finally gave in and did so many. It was so weird to see, he did it exactly like Jiro does, the look back-look forward-POSE-move in slo-mo. It was pretty amazing. So then I made Lei and Tsai get up and do it with me, except all of us EPIC-FAILED. It's not even funny. ![]() Long and Tsai doing gangster pose (not Jiro). ![]() Kouke Wangzi (thirsty prince) pose. LOL. This is attempt #3; the other ones apparently I looked creepy 8D. ![]() Re de wangzi (hot [as in sweating] prince). Attempt #4 for this one. I think by this point I had given up. Long was like "you need to do Jiro's pouty lip thing" so we were trying to push our lips out and... yea. ![]() Jiro's classic pose, with the ya ji rou (pushing on the muscle). Haha Tsai xD. Yea, i gave up. (I have no muscle anyway.) ![]() Me and Lei are trying to do Jiro's cute-kitty pose. Lei kind of succeeded. I did not. Meanwhile, Tsai is still attempting to do Jiro's other classic pose. XDD After Charlotte and Korean Boyf came by, we played more pong AND THIS TIME LEI AND I WONNNN!!!! We won so many times - twice against Charlotte and Korean Boyf (ugh, I'll just call him KB) who is really good and once against KB and Long! The best parts were when we made the same last cup or the last two remaining cups in a row, or the once Lei was like "get the middle cup! I just shot that one in" and I was like "okay" and shot not expecting to make it but I DID MWAHAH. Heating upppp. Tsai was cheering for us, woot. Then we played flip cup, girls vs. guys, and we TOTALLY CREAMED THEM. Five times. But I've always been awesome at that game. After that the guys went out for a smoke and we joined them. ![]() Guys doing it Chinese/TW squatter style. I have a picture with me doing it too but I don't think I want to put it online in case people I don't want seeing it find it... Lei and I split a Marlboro and I freaking cannot do those. I choked so bad. I can only do Newports. Whatever though, smoking is not my thing. I just like how they smell X3. It was already about 4 AM so we went back in and chilled and contemplated playing truth or dare and Lei brought out this really grody and totally NC-17 rated truth or dare game she got as a gift from a friend who had bought it from Urban Outfitters (and that store has some weiiird books and games and shit, so you know it was truly adult). Some of the cards read "Go into the kitchen and take out whipped cream or some other tasty thing, and then make bulls eyes on your partner's nipples and then see if you can drip water right into the middle of the target. If you can, lick the whipped cream off" and "Reenact your favorite position with a piece of furniture and make noises" O_O. So uh, definitely not playing that. So we played this Korean game KB taught us with a board and four sticks until like 5. I was really not into it at all and Lei and and Charlotte (girls vs. guys again) kept arguing about strategy and where to put our pieces, so I was just like la la la *zone out* the whole time. Plus I kept having to run to the bathroom because I had drunk so much beer AND WATER. But then it turns out I was like their silent weapon, even though it wasn't like I was good at it since the whole thing was based on chance; either way, I ended up getting everything they wanted and then winning the last game single-handedly for us. Whatevs, man. LoL. Then Charlotte and KB and Long went home, and Lei, Tsai, and I went to bed. I slept till 4 PM when Snowball woke me up xD and then I drove the 40 minutes back home, and by the time I made it back the parents and QQ were already back from the mountains! And then I went online and discovered Dadong's MOMOLOVE HAIR XC >_____< T_______T. ![]() But I think I'm getting used to it already. It just came as an utter shock to see him with straight bangs @_@. Also I watched TANK's new MV Ruguo Wo Bian Cheng Huiyi (If I Become A Memory) with Jiro and Selina's younger sister and once again Jiro had SUCH EPICFAIL HAIR O_o. But the MV was so depressingly cute :( and the song is awesome. And then I saw Big Bang's new Japanese single of My Heaven's MV and in that one, GD'S HOBO HAIRZ O_O. OMFG, what was with EVERYBODY totally FAILING AT THEIR HAIR UGH. However, TOP looked effing delicious. His hair was total success. But there was sooo not enough of him in the MV, so that was not cool. So that was my weekend. Tomorrow, I am going to Alex's house to watch the Champions League Final (BARCA VS MANU! MANUUUUUUUUU FTW) at noon plus lunch, then maybe going to see Star Trek with Erin. I better not come home and find any other surprises about any of my boys' hair. But yes, I am utterly addicted to Big Bang. ESP Top and GD, zomg. ![]() I'm a total GTOP shipper (even though they don't even come close to my love for Donglun, though the fans make crazygood photoshopped images for gtop x3) but I just love them in general. I looked up a few more of their songs and then got hooked on Everything (!!!) and Always and Crazy Dog and Remember (funny, because when I started out on this fandom I only liked and wanted to listen to their dancy/electronica-y tunes. And all of the ones I just listed are more R&B [ except Crazy Dog, which is just a hilarious song ]). And then Kim got me freaking hooked on their Stand Up concert and I've watched, like, all of it plus some of their Big Show concert and I SO WANT TO SEE THEM IN CONCERT AHHH. If you gave me a choice between FLH and BB I would choose BB in a heartbeat. I still love my FLH boys and they will always be first, but I would only go to their concert to see them and their attractiveness whereas with BB I get that, plus a guaranteed awesome show that is worth my $100+. I have been listening to nothing but Big Bang for the past 4 days. It's driving my sister nuts. OH, I have to blog about the total TW-series-like dream I had about Jiro when I slept at Lei's house, LOL. It was so cute *_*. I think I'll do that after I shower. Yes. I am back in the homeland. Not China, Denver. China is the motherland. Denver is the homeland. And I am back. Tuesday into Wednesday was a horrible time, let me tell you. First, David saved my life and came over to get my stuff (after Grace decided to go home early without so much as giving me a heads up, thanks so much bitch. Have a nice life in Ithaca, hope you die early) on Tuesday at around 1, I had dinner with Kelly at 6, came back and packed my clothes and had a tug-of-war for the next twelve hours as I debated what to throw out and what to keep and if my luggage was going to go over the 50 lbs. limit, and the packing, was ENDLESS. Things kept popping up out of nowhere even as I stuffed them into suitcases, and I still ended up forgetting my TI-83+ and 4GB flash drive in my desk drawer. I just KNEW I was going to forget them, and I did. Also I had to leave my teddy bear behind, but when I emailed my RA to please please rescue my calculator and flash drive, she asked if I also wanted my teddy bear back. I love her. Even though I'm paying for the postage :P. Anyway, I finished packing (mostly) at around 1 AM, which is when I started studying for my final, and then I showered and kept myself awake with One Tree Hill on my bare mattress in a sweatshirt till 7. I went down for breakfast, had my last awesome made-to-order omelette ever, then went to my final, which was ridiculously easy, hoorah. Came back, watched Fringe, and then packed some MORE and threw out even MORE stuff until my cab driver got here at 3:30, which is when I finally bade SU and sophomore year goodbye/good riddance. The plane ride sucked. I was so ridiculously tired from not having slept at all, and I was also feeling very extremely sweaty and gross, so basically it was "hold-out until I finally get home and RELAX". Slept fitfully, ordered coffee and still slept through it. At one point the girl next to me had her unconscious head accidentally on my shoulder but I was so tired I really didn't care. Missed my layover in Chicago by literally 2 minutes because of the rainy weather. But actually I think that was better, because the next flight to Denver was in 2 hours and so I made my way to the food court, ordered some cheap Chinese food at Manchu Wok that was delicious because I was so hungry (best Szechuan Chicken & Lo Mien ever), went online via Boingo, and then headed - finally! - home again. Landed in Denver at 10:40 PM, was picked up by dad and mom and QQ, and the rest is history. I. LOVE. DENVER. I. LOVE. HOME. HOME. <3 --- ![]() My toes are green. (Those aren't a picture of my toes. Is that weird? That I have a picture of somebody else's toes... haha. O_O) My fingernails are [ chipped ] rocker black and my toenails are a sparkly shade of [ neat ] lime green. Total oxymoron :d but what else is new? I rarely paint my nails - call it the pianist habit in me, as we aren't supposed to paint our fingernails for a better aesthetic and some lie about the polish weighing down our fingers - and I own a total of maybe 2.7 bottles of polish, so this is a really rare occurance. But whenever I come home from school for break, I always paint my fingernails black now. This time, my toes decided to follow suit. I think I was admiring my toes too much with my fingers because sparkly gold has rubbed off on my middle black fingernail and won't come off. For some reason it reminded me of once, when I was maybe 6, at my piano teacher's house for my lesson. My mom had painted my nails a pinky-red, and Mr. Shaak flipped out and demanded I take it off before we began. The way he reacted was kind of scary, and being a little Asian girl who liked her nails pretty, I was on the brink of tears as I sat down with the nail polish remover and the sharp smell from the bottle to take off my pinky-red. Another girl, Darcy, who had her lesson before mine, patted me on the back and told me that they'd all been there. "I had my nails black with gold and silver sparkly swirls once, and he got sooo mad at me," she said. I impulse-shopped on Thursday. The plan was to stop off at Old Navy and get myself those 2 for $5 flip flops to replace some of the shoes I had to throw out to save luggage space, and then go to Walmart and replenish my facial and body washes and contact solutions because of the same reason. But of course shopping always bites me in the ass and I came out with more than that. ![]() A 100% cotton, completely comfortable as in I-could-sleep-in-this-and-rub-my-face-in-this-all-day dark grey v-neck t-shirt, $10 (!). Metallic pewter sandals, $19.50. Yellow suede moccasins, $11.99 (SALE! I heart cheap shoez). I'd been looking for yellow moccasins for forever, and even though these were preppier than I would've liked, with a bow and string-ties in place of the bright Native American beading and the fringe, I loooooveeee them. I also debated buying a thin patent white belt and some other shoes, but I decided not to because I can probably get them in China. However, I was wearing sneakers when I went in, and since taking the shoes off and putting them on again is a complete bitch, I guestimated my shoe size and picked size 7 for the sandal and size 8 for the close-toed moccasins. I have such a hard time with shoes because I swear my feet are shrinking: when I was in 8th grade, I could barely fit into a size 8 1/2. Sophomore year I fit back into a size 8. Two years ago I became 7 1/2. And now I'm in between that and a 7, usually. For open-toed shoes I wear a 7, close-toed I'm usually a 7 1/2. But the moccasins didn't have half-sizes, so I went with a size 8 to be safe and didn't try them on. Once I got home, I realized I had about two fingers-width too much in the moccasins. So I went back to the store again today before church (and before I stopped off at Schlotzsky's for my usual bbq chicken & jalapeno pizza :B) and exchanged for a size 7, which fit perfectly (go figure. Pretty soon I'm gonna be wearing my mama's size at 6). In line for the cash register, the girls in front of me were getting really excited about these soaps, so I looked at the vendor beside the register, and OMG, so many soaps and body things and fragrances for 50% off. They were in such neat packaging with these designs and after picking some up and smelling them, I decided I loved them. ![]() So of course I bought some. ![]() Cute little things like these thrifty soaps make my day. I think it's the "I wanna grow up and own my own awesome house!" person in me XD. They smell so delicious (I got Ruby Guava and White Grapefruit) and they're so cute. I think I might go back and buy some more tomorrow, I also liked Lavender Mint and the Island Lime one. They were 2 for $2.50! Totally worth it. I also got my mother's day present for my mom: the Ruby Guava Scented Oil Diffuser. She'll love it, I know it. She loves smelling nice and working in environments that smell nice. I really think that I'm the type of person that when I own my own place, will get totally excited about cute dishes, and shelf knick-knacks, and throw pillows. I found a couple of pictures a while back from apartmenttherapy.com (yes, I go there to look at awesome apartments sometimes) and I basically want this space: ![]() Isn't it cute!? It's in Oregon. Yep, I'm one of those people. :] Anyways, I also wanted ice cream and our house had none, and the original plan [ again ] was to buy a big bucket of Dreyer's or something that would last a while, but Dreyer's has nothing on Ben & Jerry's. I ended up getting my two favorite ice cream flavors in the universe. ![]() Bless that Ben and Jerry for coming up with the caramel core in Karamel Sutra. I think most of it is gone, while the actual ice cream is still there, LOL. Also, cherries and chocolate in cherry-tinted vanilla ice cream? ALL teh smexiez. I'm gonna miss this in China, but then again, they have stuff like frozen dan ta and soft-serve fresh strawberry sundaes so I think I'll be okay. But when I got home with my Cherry Garcia, my parents did the whole "You're going to get fat" argument so to make it a little healthier and throw in some of my fruit serving for the day, I sliced up some banana and tossed in a few leftover blueberries, raspberries, and boysenberries we had while rooting around in the fridge and spent way too long making & perfecting and pic-ing this thing: ![]() The angle is weird so I don't know if you can tell, but that's a bowl, not a plate. Ice cream is supremely difficult to eat off a plate, esp a glass one. Haha. I was going to post some surveys and some "Things you didn't know about Summer" random facts on here, but I think I'll save that for next time. Summer (and I mean the season, not talking to myself in the third person), I'm so glad you're finally here. The real fun has yet to kick in because my friends aren't home yet (except Daren, who is back from Boulder tomorrow maybe!), but I can feel the season soaking into my skin already. And see, the posts about absolutely nothing at all (which is how I'm spending my days!) are already starting. I'm so ready to be sunkissed (and NOT sunburnt!). I♥BOSTON我愛波士頓 Me and another friend who goes to Hartford, Alex, went to visit Alicia at Northeastern last weekend. I'm still here (till tomorrow, when I go back on the train) but Alicia's at work today so I'm just lounging around chillin' for once. I've decided I love this city. F r i d a y 星 期 五 : : I got to the train station at around 10:30 AM, and departed for Boston at 11:25. I suddenly got a cold on Thursday, so I was half-deaf (my ears plug up really easily when I get sick, esp. when my nose is stuffy) with a sore throat and runny nose and very, very uncomfortable the whole way there. The seats on the train were nice and expansive though, so I alternated between sleeping and fooling around on my laptop the whole 9 hours (nine hour train ride = I hate life). I also had a nice, long conversation with 妈妈. Met Alex at the train station cuz she got there about the same time I did (8:40), and then Alicia picked us up. I looked grossssss and sick and dead, but we took pictures on the Orange Line (subway) anyways. ![]() Alicia & me. Alicia was like, I look like I'm smoking a cig... I fail at being Asian. Haha. We dropped our stuff off at her really nice apartment she shares with 3 other girls and then walked to Prudential, which is a really big mall-like shopping center, for dinner at Cheesecake Factory. They weren't that hungry so split two appetizers, but I had eaten one bagel all day so I got the Cajun Jambalaya Pasta, about ate it ALL, and then all of us got cheesecake. ![]() My Lemon & Raspberry Cream cheesecake with ladyfingers. It was sooo delish. I don't like whipped cream. That's my Kawaii-Holic wallet at the right-hand corner. Afterwards we went back home, blew up an air mattress for me and Alex to sleep on, and then all of us went to bed at around 3 AM I think? Except for me. I take showers at night so I went in to shower, and then accidentally fell asleep when I sat down to wash my feet propped against the wall LOL. S a t u r d a y 星期六 : : I think the plan was to wake up at 9, but knowing me, I didn't get up till 10:30 which is a really big accomplishment for me anyways. ![]() Alicia's living room and kitchen from the perspective of what you see when you look up from her desks in the corner. Big air mattress taking up all the space in the lower corner. Everything's so PINK. They have a pink tinsel Easter tree with ornaments by the couch hahaha. All the stuff on the couches and on the floor except for the blue suitcase is mine. Alex says I just explode stuff all over the room. :P ![]() I thought it was going to be colder than it actually was, so dressed semi-normal. You can still tell I'm tired and disoriented and sick and my hair is being really weird. Despite it all, Jiro-pose! And a cup of Airborne medicine in my hand cuz I'm still sick. I did a really good job of drinking fluids and taking my meds. We ate breakfast then went on our way. We went soo many places. ![]() Alex and I on a really pretty street by Newbury. Alex 好MAN喔! 我呢... 好FOB. My Chucks started killing my feet later on in the day. We went to the Massachussetts Avenue bridge, which Alicia calls the MIT Bridge cuz across it is MIT. It's so pretty on it. Alicia wanted us (read: Alex since both of them are Latina) to try this sweet rice drink at Anna's Taqueria based on the MIT campus, so we went over there and upon arriving discovered it was Admit-Day, when all the high school seniors who were admitted to MIT came to visit the school. There were a bunch of guys in really brightly patterned bras with money shoved into them when we were walking, and one of them approached us and turns out they were raising money for this camp for kids whose parents have cancer. After getting our drinks, we sat on the steps and were approached by these guys three more times, so I called one of them over and was like "hey, I'll give you money if you take a picture with us!" ![]() Look at that pimp face. Alex, MIT boy, and me. My face was a little weird in this one (read: XDDD) so I'll spare you all. We asked him what his cup size was and he was like man I should really find out so I don't have the awkward encounters at Victoria's Secret with the sales ladies who want to measure me. We also asked where all of them got their bras from and he was like "one of the guys, his mom makes like these ghetto bras and we asked her to donate some." HAHA He invited us to a PBE rooftop party that night but also asked if we were pre-frosh (seniors in high school) and we were a little offended. But I think it's just what he assumed rather than how we looked. I mean, you really don't expect to see three college sophomores from all over the east coast on Admit Day, right? Another guy approached us later so I asked him to take a picture with us too. ![]() He asked if we wanted to touch them. Alicia = FAIL. Me (except for my face, which was once again like XDDD) = SUCCESS. He has such a look of ecstasy on his face... it's cuz I'm feeling him up nice. I was really surprised that all the MIT boys we talked to were so outgoing and er, attractive and normal when I was to be honest expecting nerdy withdrawn people (esp the Asian guy, who Alex and Alicia were trying to convince me was cute but I don't think so... they just don't know how to judge Asians :P). We decided that MIT must have gathered all the normal males on campus and was like hey, you're gonna wear some bras and charm the high school seniors. On our way back across the MIT bridge we asked some people to take pictures of us. ![]() I look like I'm really happy to be here, don't I? I don't know what I was doing *shrug* We walked around some more and then went on Newbury Street, which is the epitome of culture and history and art and diversity all crammed on one street. I've never seen anything like it. Boston combines contemporary and modern with history; all the buildings are old and brick and red and Stackhouse-y but sooo elegant and beautiful, and they are silhouetted with just-opening cherry blossoms. There are all sorts of shops there as you walk down, from Vera Wang and Nanette Lapore to H&M and American Eagle to second-hand shops to handmade jewelry and accessories to restaurants and cafes of all kinds. There are also a lot of street vendors; we passed a bunch of artists selling really morbidly creepy prints on the street and some Native Americans selling turquoise jewelry. To cap it all, there are so many people there. We passed dozens of street performers playing jazz to rock to U2 covers, and there is such a mish-mash of languages. I wanted to bust out my Mandarin, but had nobody to speak it to lol. SO MANY FOBS THERE BY THE WAY! I love it. Newbury is one of my favorite places in the U.S. Anyway, we went to a cupcake shop I've been wanting to go to ever since I visited their website like, a year and a half ago, called Sweet. ![]() Look at all those cupcakes... mmm. ![]() We were like, Alex, take some artsy photos on your camera with the Macro setting! My cupcake was Lemon with lemon cream filling and whipped lemon icing. I didn't know I was gonna be in the shot. I'm people-watching. I like how this turned out. ![]() Yea, I look a little um, constipated. We were giggling over some stupid joke one of us told like always. Look at those gorgey buildings in the background. After that we just browsed around Newbury. I was itching to go shopping (even though I promised I wouldn't :\) but Alicia had reminded me before hand that Alex doesn't really like to shop (I know, BLASPHEMY!) so we should save our shopping trip for Sunday because Alex was leaving Sunday at noon. I agreed, but after I saw a row of huge vintage headphones in the mirror of Urban Outfitters I had to go in. I've been wanting a pair since forever. ![]() I didn't really like these, but they were bright and colorful. I wanted the lime green ones in the background of this picture, but $80. :( ![]() The row of headphones. I decided I really just wanted a pair of classic black ones with the metal frames and the bulk and all, but they didn't have any, so oh wellz. I also tried on a bunch of sunglasses here because I want an old-time Ray Charles pair, but I found out here that I don't look that great in them. ![]() Johnny Cupcakes. If you're not from Boston, let me tell you right now, to avoid looking like a tourist, don't expect to find cupcakes here. They sell t-shirts. Apparently the brand/logo Johnny Cupcakes (cupcakes with crossbones) is so famous in Boston, it's almost like a cult. If you live in Boston, you either want or have one of these shirts. Redonkulous. If you don't believe me, check online. Their t-shirts never go below $34 unless they're on sale. The hoodies are $100. Geezus. I'll print my own knock-off version in China, shoot. ![]() Heehee. It's for French Connection UK (also an abbrev. for Football Company UK) but I still find it amusing. The only place we went shopping that day is to Zarah, a department store that is very similar to H&M but with slightly more sophisticated/businessy style dress (also more expensive). I found a bunch of things I liked including a high-waisted bright blue pencil skirt but decided after a while not to get it because I was probably going to go nuts when we really went shopping on Sunday anyways. This is probably the first time I've come out of a store as big as Zarah without anything, ANYTHING. Amazing. I'm proud of myself *patpat*. After that, Alicia took us to Boston Commons, a huuuge park kind of like Central Park in New York. She mentioned something about bronze ducks, and I suddenly remembered that I had a picture with the very same bronze duckies taken when I was 3, back when we lived in Boston for 10 months. I called my dad and we had a laugh. I'll scan in the picture of baby Summer when I'm home in Denver. Anyways, we never found the duckies :( but we did find bronze frogs. I wanted pictures with them but there were these four kids climbing all over them and I wasn't gonna kick toddlers off... haha. ![]() Taken by a group of tourists from Oklahoma. We were like, WE'RE FROM DENVER! And all of us were like YEAAAAA like the Midwesterners we are. (I really don't know if Denver's considered Midwest... not really. OH well.) There were these swan gondolas going all across the lake that I wanted to ride on but Alicia wouldn't let me :( haha. Then she took us to Chinatown (AHHH CHINATOWN!!!). Alex and Alicia were like, "do you feel at home yet?" and I really did, even though the Chinatown in Boston is kind of small. I wanted Indian food, and we searched around, but after making it into Chinatown I was like the only food you're going to find here is Chinese food. Actually, I dont' even think it's Chinatown, I think the white people are just generalizing again cuz it was actually like Asiantown. I saw the letters P-H-O and FREAKED THE FUCK OUT. So of course we got pho. ![]() Mmm. The broth is similar to the crack pho I get in Denver but still not as good. The portions were also smaller. But I really don't care, I got pho. Alicia got tofu & veggie curry (she's a vegetarian). The headphones on my shirt are the the ones I wanttttt! After Chinatown we took the T back to the apartment. Hmm, I'm trying to figure out what we did next since our day was sooo long... oh yea. We went back out and took the T to the financial district where Alicia had gotten us tickets to a comedy club called Improv Asylum. The actors were hilarious there (ie. their Rollerblading improv was HILARIOUS as was their "black people like chocolate donuts" song... totally not PC) but sometimes it got a little nasty (most of the time it reverted to sex sex sex all the time). Also there was this bachelorette party there who were all SO loud and SO VULGAR. I was seriously like, STFUUUUU. There were also people with buckets (literally) of beer and pitchers and everything from the bar outside the theatre. Which is a smart strategy: get people schwasted before you tell jokes - that way everything is funny to them! We then went to another Boston-cult thing similar to Johnny Cupcakes called Mike's Pastry (they actually sell pastries there) who are famous for their canoles. The small shop was P-A-C-K-E-D. I felt claustrophobic. We'd stood in line for close to 10 minutes already before we discovered they only took cash, which none of us had; so we left :(. I wanted a canole. ![]() Waiting for the T. Alicia was like let's take some artsy subway photos! Alex and I weren't exactly ready for this picture... ![]() Me and Alicia. We thought Alex had set the color accent on yellow, but she didn't, so we were like take another one with the yellow color accent so you'll get the yellow strip of the caution area! So she set it, but the subway was already racing towards us. They were like "HURRY! SUMMER TAKE IT TAKE IT!" so I rushed up and tried to act nonchalant like this one with the subway coming straight at the left side of my face... ![]() And this is what resulted. I look panicked and like I'm about to jump off to commit suicide on the subway tracks. After we got back, we made dinner (spaghetti) and then flopped on the air mattress, trying to decide if we wanted to go to the PBE party the MIT boys had invited us to. Also, Alicia wanted us to meet her current crush, Matt (who goes to MIT), at another party, but we were all kind of tired, so we had no idea what we wanted to do. In the meantime, I introduced Alex and Alicia to the wonders of Engrish.com and we laughed so hard at some of the bad Asian translations we almost peed our pants. ![]() This was one of them. A simple "keep out" can't get the job done these days apparently... Well we had no idea where PBE even was so Alex called Alicia's friend, Americo (also an MIT-er), to find out directions, but the guy just made us confused. His directions were like "okay go right and past the tennis courts and then there's a soccer field and then bear left and the road will curve and... DINOSAUR" yea. So Alicia was like "call Matt" because around Matt she gets like a giggly idiot so I called Matt and made a fool out of myself. I told him to get out of earshot of Americo so when I re-asked the directions Americo wouldn't be insulted, and then Matt was like "where should I go?" and then I proceeded to invite ourselves to his party. LOL. But Matt was cool about it. The PBE party was already closed by the time we got there at around 1. LAME. What kind of parties, especially FRAT parties, close at 1? High school dances? Our frats don't even get properly started till 12:30. Anyways, Alicia called Americo again to let us into his apartment so we could party there. There were only a few people there and all of them were Hispanic, so I felt like a token Asian. They gave us markers and told us to draw on the already-sharpie filled walls, so I went to town with my drawings and they loved it so I was kept busy for about an hour drawing all over their walls wherever they dragged me. We just kind of chilled there and talked and stuff until we left at around 2:30. Alicia was really pissed because Matt was soo drunk, but I've seen a lot worse, and it wasn't like he was puking on my shoes or anything. We walked all the way back home and then went to bed. S u n d a y 星期天 : : Alex left at 11:30, and I wasn't really awake to see her go... Alicia got back at 1:30 and this time we went to Newbury Street to properly shop. No pictures yet for Sunday because Alex left with her camera and Alicia hasn't uploaded her pictures onto the internet yet. We immediately went to H&M, which is were I wanted to go. Like always, I found SO MUCH STUFF. I ended up getting (I'll post up pictures later): - The BOMBER JACKET I've been wanting for SO LONG now. It's not leather but the sleeves are ruched and it's shiny and shrunken and sexy. Totally motorcycle chic. I'm so in love with it - Black and grey zebra print leggings! YYYYYESSSS - New sunglasses - Turquoise skinny jeanz. I had a pair of black satin skinnies, but I decided since I'm kind of collecting skinnies in colors, I wanted the turquoise ones more. I did like the black satin ones though... I'll get them in Syracuse. I'm kind of perturbed because I wear a size 8 in H&M even though I'm actually a size 4 (I wear size 4 shirts in H&M too...). I feel so fat in this store >_< - Metallic sheened black party tank When I was talking to Alicia, I suddenly turned around and saw GABE STEIN, a guy from high school I haven't seen since graduation. It was SO WEIIIIRD. To see him in Boston, in H&M (the guy is such a nerd, not fashionable in the least) of all places, in a random Sunday in April, was weird. I called Daren and we left her a message cuz Daren used to have a crush (?) on the kid. Alicia kept telling me to say hi because when I was trying on shades he was like, right across the aisle from me, but I did NOT because I barely knew the kid. Afterwards, we got Bubble Tea (EEK!) from Tealuxe. I got Pear & Pomegranate Black Milk Tea and Alicia got an iced chai. She wanted to sit down but the main level had only two tables and a bar, so we went downstairs to the cafe. Apparently you had to order food there to sit down, so I was like I'll eat. Our waiter had a nice British accent and kept hitting on me o_o. We both got tomato & garden veggie soup and split a hummus plate. The girls at the table next to us kept copying our orders. First they asked me what bubble tea was and when I said it was chewy tapioca they didn't get it (teh hellz?). Then they would see stuff we ordered and be like "we want that too". (...) After they left, I looked across the bench to a table and THERE WAS THE MIT BOY O_____O (the one we'd taken the first picture with in his pink bra, the NOT Asian one). Alicia couldn't see from where she was sitting, so I took a picture on her camera of him very, very indiscreetly and very stalker-like. But he didn't notice. We walked around some more on Newbury and stopped to listen to a band do a cover of Paul Simon's Bridge Over Troubled Waters and the guy's voice was super nice. We visited a few jewelry stores Alicia wanted to go to, and I found a tiny golden necklace with a piggy pendant I wanted to buy for my sister. But I heard my mom's voice in my head say "这个东西在中国顶多只 要2RMB" so I put it back like a good Chinese kid. We walked down to Dartmouth St to a Mexican place called Bar Lola to meet two of Alicia's roommate's in one of their birthday celebrations. They were nice enough to let me tag along. It was a Tapas bar, and they explained that tapas = dinner made of appetizers ( = 点心 [dimsum], Spanish style). On Sunday nights, there also is live Flamenco dancers to entertain you while you eat, and our flamenco dancer was really good! We bumped into her practicing outside the bathroom. We ordered a lot of styles of tortillas, some prawn fritters, and lamb loin. I wasn't hungry because of our Tealuxe snack so that was just fine for me. After sneaking about 30 of the after-dinner mints at the bowl by the front desk (because they were CHOCOLATE MINTS that were delicious), we took the T back to the apartment. I showered, then watched a Thai horror movie called The Shutter. And OMFG IT WAS SO SKURRY. It was remade into an American one last year but obviously the original is always better. I was scared out of my skull. The leading man in it looked a lot like Orlando Bloom but too bad Thai is such an ugly language! The girl in it looked kind of like if my friend Kelly and I had a baby, she'd be what it'd look like LOL. Anyways I was alone in the living room on my air mattress to sleep that night since Alex was gone, so I was so scared. My ears were still funny from the cold so I kept thinking I heard shuffling noises in the hall. >< M o n d a y 星期一 : : Alicia has work today, so I finally got a day to lounge around and do nothing and try to fully recuperate from my cold. I mean, Boston hasn't been too cold and I've done really well on drinking my fluids and keeping up with my Chinese herbal medicine and stuff, but I've had long days and walked around a ton so I needed today. I actually got up at 11:13 though (ALL BY MYSELF!) cuz I needed to pee. I made myself spaghetti again, watched the American version of Shutter (not as good), and am now posting. Still a little sick, but I'm a lot better I think. I leave tomorrow. Definitely not looking forward to riding the train again, but at least Syracuse has nice weather! And Alicia just got home. Dinner time! Oy, I'm so exhausted. This post is a beast. End o' school countdown: 15 days. the girl.
I'm Meichen Yu. I'm Summer Yu. I'm Chen. I'm Winter.I'm a 20 year old Chinese (fan)girl from Denver, Colorado, who goes to New York for university. I'm a broadcast journalism major hoping to work in Taiwan as a variety show host after graduation. I love my family of 100+. I've played piano since I was 5 (had it beat into me, more like) and guitar, I charcoal and sketch, and I write fiction. I Photoshop too much. I keep up with fashion, use shopping as cardio, love experimenting with makeup, and go dancing a lot. I am attached to my iPod, love and breathe music, and own too many faded concert tshirts. I dress eclectically; I have polos, suspenders, bright dresses, African print, and Converse lace-up boots in my closet. I'm a walking oxymoron. I can be chill and laid-back and go-with-the-flow and I can also be very passionate and headstrong. I'm girly but emotionally I'm a bit like a man. I'm rather blunt and oblivious and incredibly insensitive. I have a low man-voice and I use it to tell it like it is. I'm a huuuuge EPL (English Premiere League) fan and World Cup fanatic. I can't understand why America is the only country who doesn't see soccer (FOOTBALL) for the beautiful game it is. It's pretty much the only sport I keep up with. Also, I'm a huuuge Asian celebrity fangirl. Fahrenheit, in particular Jiro and Aaron, are my weak spot, though Big Bang ranks as a close second by sheer force of talent. I love Donglun slash. (I also love Reno/Cloud slash.) Often times when I'm walking around listening to my iPod I will daydream a whole music video (with me in them most of the time) in my head as a song plays. Other times I will imagine whole Taiwanese Dramas and cast all the characters. I believe my whole life thus far can be accurately summed up by The Googoo Doll's Dizzy Up the Girl album, hence the blog title. I also hope my future life (with Jiro) will be able to be summed up by Cheer Chen's discography. I eat too much, sleep erratically and usually during the day, party hard, and work my ass off. I have a short attention span and am pretty good at wasting time. Sometimes I get worried that nobody understands my strange self but most of the time I'm not concerned with working too hard at making friends because if it's meant to be, it will stick. I dream big and believe my life will follow as such. If you box your possibilities into a small space, your life will only be mediocre. God gave us dreams and the means to make them come true; use them. I love my good and fearful God. I'm excited to see where life takes me. I'm excited to be alive. :). I'm terrible at summing myself up in these things. |
